Grant Application

Welcome to the Poway Community Foundation grant application portal. Our mission is to inspire enduring philanthropy and Poway pride to promote solutions that improve the quality of life in our community. We welcome applications from all 501(c)3 public charities that aim to positively impact Poway residents. Grants range from $2,500 to $10,000. All applications will be evaluated to ensure they meet the requirements.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible all applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. Your organization must be a 501(c)3 public charity or an organization that is fiscally sponsored by a 501(c)3, a school, or other government agency. PCF does not make grants to individuals, supporting organizations or private, non-operating foundations.

  2. Scholarships to individuals do not qualify.

  3. Grant funds are to be used in Poway for a specific and defined project.

  4. If an organization is using a fiscal sponsor, a cooperative relationship between the two must be clearly demonstrated, and the fiscal sponsor must be willing to administer the grant if awarded.

  5. Project must be achievable within a 12-month time frame.

  6. Project must have specific goals.

  7. Applicant must outline the strategies and approaches for achieving the goals.

  8. Project must include evaluation procedures and measurable outcomes to monitor success.

  9. Project must demonstrate plans for long-term sustainability (future funding viability, etc.)

  10. Applicant must demonstrate that funding will serve residents within the City of Poway.

PCF will not fund

  1. Existing obligations/debt relief

  2. Capital or annual campaigns

  3. Scholarships

  4. Projects promoting religious or political doctrine

Application Instructions

All information must be typed directly into the fields of the online application and submitted through the website. All information MUST be provided; incomplete applications WILL NOT be considered.

  • Please have aII information prepared prior to starting the online application form

  • The form cannot be saved for future editing

  • It is recommended responses be edited and prepared in a separate word processing program.  At submission time, copy and paste into the webform. 

  • For the narrative text fields, use white space and organized formatting for ease of reading for the evaluators.   

  • A PDF of a completed application will be emailed to the "organization leader" email address.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the application deadline?

The deadline for submission is August 30, 2025, 5:00 p.m. PDT. Incomplete or late applications will not be accepted.

How much can we request?

Poway Community Foundation will accept requests in the range of $2,500 to $10,000. Requests may not be fully funded.

What is the grant period?

Grants are made for one year. The grant cycle is annually January 1 to December 31.

What reporting is required?

Poway Community Foundation requires a mid-year update and a final report; the details of which will be specified in the grant award letter. Failure to provide a final report may prevent an organization from applying for a grant in the future. PCF encourages funding and grant recognition through print and social media channels.
