Community Food Connection – Essential Storage and Safety Project

Thanks to the Poway Community Foundation’s $10,000 grant, Community Food Connection (CFC) has strengthened its mission to fight food insecurity while enhancing on-site safety. The Essential Storage and Safety Project has delivered tangible results for the Poway community.

Key Outcomes

  • Expanded Food Storage – Two new storage sheds allow CFC to manage larger inventories, partner with local grocery stores including Trader Joe’s and Amazon Fresh, and increase purchases from the San Diego Food Bank. Individuals experiencing food insecurity now have more reliable access to nutritious food.

  • Enhanced Safety – The addition of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and staff training ensures volunteers and visitors are protected in the event of a medical emergency.

Strengthening Community Impact

CFC, an entirely volunteer-staffed organization, distributes food to over 9,000 individuals, seniors and families annually. This project equips CFC to respond efficiently to growing community needs while keeping everyone safe. With the support of the Poway Community Foundation, CFC is building a stronger, more resilient Poway, where families in need receive consistent support and volunteers can serve with confidence.

Together, we are making a lasting difference.
