Villa de Vida – Being the Best You Can Be!
At Villa de Vida, Inc., we believe every adult with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) deserves the chance to live fully, explore life, and thrive. Thanks to a $3,500 grant from the Poway Community Foundation, our residents and community members have been able to enjoy meaningful experiences that bring joy, connection, and independence.
Exploring the World Together
Each month, Villa de Vida hosts two Social Club outings—from bowling and movie nights to dining out together. These activities give participants the chance to build friendships and experience the community around them.
Our highlight of the year was an all-expense-paid trip to the San Diego Zoo for 25 adults and their care providers. The day included transportation and a gourmet meal, creating a memorable adventure for many who had not been to the zoo in decades. Overcoming the barriers of limited transportation and tight budgets, this trip was a true gift of inclusion and joy.
Summer Fun Program
During the summer months, Villa de Vida runs a 10-week Summer Fun program, with weekly outings designed to get participants outdoors and engaged. This year’s activities included a Padres game, picnics at Lake Poway and Kate Sessions Park, and upcoming visits to La Jolla Shores and the Hamburger Factory. These experiences foster community connections and create lasting memories.
Strengthening Community Impact
Thanks to the Poway Community Foundation’s $3,500 grant, Villa de Vida continues to break down barriers of cost and transportation, creating opportunities for adults with I/DD to live fuller lives, connect with others, and simply be the best they can be.
