Blissful Seeds Grows Opportunities for Adults with Disabilities Thanks to Poway Community Foundation Grant
The Poway Community Foundation is proud to support local organizations that make a lasting difference in people’s lives. One of those organizations is Blissful Seeds, whose mission is to plant the seeds of blissful lives for adults with autism and other disabilities through employment and entrepreneurship.
Blissful Seeds provides meaningful job opportunities and hands-on entrepreneurship training in a safe and supportive environment. Each employee receives personalized coaching to help them adjust to their role and develop professional skills. Employment positions are customized based on each participant’s strengths, interests, and goals, providing lifelong opportunities that lead to self-sufficiency and an improved quality of life.
Located in a vibrant Poway shopping center, the Blissful Seeds storefront and workshop proudly feature products exclusively created by adults with developmental disabilities. Thanks to a $3,000 grant from the Poway Community Foundation, Blissful Seeds was able to hire additional employees that have developmental disabilities, introduce new art classes aligned with individual employment goals, and provide specialized job training for all staff. These efforts helped the organization surpass its annual service goals while making a remarkable impact on employees’ personal and professional growth.
Through their programs, Blissful Seeds continues to foster creativity, independence, and inclusion, showing that adults with developmental disabilities can contribute meaningfully to their community and live fulfilling, self-reliant lives.
Grant Program Outcomes:
Increased employee participation in new art classes, with team members learning clay and acrylic painting.
Expanded employment by hiring three new employees and promoting an intern to a store attendant position.
100% of employees achieved or exceeded their Individual Employment Goals.
Employees also reported significant growth in self-confidence, teamwork, and friendships. These life-changing results were made possible through the generous support of the Poway Community Foundation, helping cultivate a more inclusive and empowered Poway community.
