Diapers, Dignity, and Hope: A $2,500 Grant Helps Birthline of San Diego County Support Local Families

At the Poway Community Foundation, we believe that the earliest years of a child's life are some of the most important, and some of the most financially demanding for families. That belief is why we awarded a $2,500 grant to Birthline of San Diego County, an organization dedicated to supporting families with young children during a critical season of life.

Thanks to this funding, Birthline has already expanded services to 8 families, putting the organization halfway to its goal of reaching 14 new families through this grant. Families with children under age six received essential items that addressed immediate needs and reduced financial strain, distributed through Birthline's Step Forward Program.

Grant funding provided:

  • Diapers and wipes

  • Baby clothing

  • Formula

  • Other essential supplies for young families

Beyond material support, families were connected with community resources and referrals designed to promote long-term stability and well-being. For a parent facing the cost of a new baby, that kind of practical help can make all the difference between scraping by and feeling supported.

The outcomes so far are meaningful:

  • 8 families have received essential baby supplies and support.

  • Families gained access to referrals aimed at long-term stability, not just a one-time gift.

  • Birthline is on track to reach its full goal of supporting 14 families through this grant.

Birthline's Step Forward Program is about more than diapers and formula. It's about meeting families where they are, with dignity, and helping set them up for a more stable future.

At Poway Community Foundation, we are proud to support organizations like Birthline that strengthen families and build a more connected community right here in Poway.
