Empowering Families to Rebuild Through Technology
Thanks to a $3,500 grant from the Poway Community Foundation, Soroptimist International of Poway was able to provide laptops, printers, and accessories to families participating in its transitional housing program for survivors of domestic violence.
This yearlong program helps families move from dependency and abuse to a safe, self-sustaining life by providing housing, mentorship, and financial assistance. The addition of new technology has made a meaningful difference for both parents and children—helping them pursue education, job opportunities, and independence.
One mother shared,
“I am working with social workers and the courts for myself and my children. Having the laptop to draft my documents has been a tremendous help. More important is the addition of the printer. I can now take my time to pull everything together at home and not have to send my documents to a copy center and pay the fees there.”
Another mom, currently taking a Certified Nursing Assistant class with hopes of entering the LVN program at Mesa College, told her mentor,
“My old laptop stopped working. The new laptop and printer will be a big help with all my schoolwork.”
The technology funded by this grant has supported parents and children in their educational and career goals, empowering them to build skills and stability that will last long after they leave the program.
Soroptimist International of Poway is deeply grateful to the Poway Community Foundation for making this possible and for supporting local families as they rebuild their lives with confidence and hope.
Together, we are helping families move from survival to success.
